Dublin Airport is situated about 6 miles North of Dublin City Centre on the M1/N1 Road, off the intersection with the M50 ring road which loops around the city. The Airport and the surrounding areas are well sign posted, to help you find your way around. Dublin Airport serves both international and domestic airlines and is the main airport in Ireland. Flight time from most cities in the United Kingdom is approximately 1 hour, flying from New York City takes between 6 and a half and 7 hours, while a flight from Los Angeles will take around 10 hours.
The airport celebrated its 80th birthday in 2020, a long way from its historic first flight from Dublin to Liverpool on the 19th of January 1940. The airport was originally built to cater for 100,000 passengers per year. In 2019, the Airport welcomed 32.9 Million passengers through their doors. These numbers have seen demand for car rental in Dublin Airport increase considerably over time. Whilst these numbers have decreased in recent months given the current climate, Dooley Car Rental are always ready to welcome you to Dublin and give you cheap and affordable car rental.
The Airport offers plenty to passengers passing through, including:
All have Airport Transfer Shuttles
As a guide Taxis are available from outside the Arrivals Area of the Airport between 06.30 and 11.30 pm freely but at peak periods in the morning and evening long queues can develop so our best advice is to pre-book. Outside of these hours you may still find it difficult to get a cab so again we suggest you pre book. Taxi Fares are about EUR 25-30 from the Airport to the City Centre, the ride is about 20 minutes, 40 at peak times.
Public bus services frequently pass through Dublin Airport. Operated by Dublin Bus (website: Dublin Bus) and Transport For Ireland, buses leave from the main Arrivals road directly outside Terminal 1 and from outside the departures hall of Terminal 2. The Airlink express bus, which runs to Dublin's main bus and rail stations departs frequently from the airport 7 days a week. Route no.747 connects Dublin Airport to O'Connell Street, Bus Aras and Parnell Square . Route no.748 serves both Heuston and Connolly rail stations as well as Bus Aras. AirCoach is another bus that operates at Dublin Airport. It departs from the arrivals area of Terminal 1 multiple times every hour, and serves Dublin City Centre and South Dublin.
Coach: Coach services operate from the airport's coach park on the far side of the main car park building to many destinations in Ireland.
